if time is water and memories sand
digging moats round the castle again
i once had a friend
named michael williamson
he lived by his poetry
but i lost him
when the tide came in

so i put all of my hopes in a metal box,
flammable liquid and 10 pairs of socks
and we left to see the world
before it all got trashed
but when we came back all the photographs
were of you
and of me
exactly the same
but in different scenes

scenes that care for no one darling
scenes that are the backdrop of millions of smiling
amateur photographers and what could we ever hope
